And Now We Breathe

Is it really January 16th? Oh goodness, that is hard to believe!

We've already been here over a month and in some ways it feels like we've just arrived, and in other regards, it feels like half a year.

Upon landing, we took the first two weeks to adjust.
Then came Christmas.

The Faith Quest Team from America arrived on the 29th and it has been non-stop ever since.

There was Faith Quest Uganda, where God's word was preached to 200 youth. They learned about being a soldier of Christ. There were early mornings and late nights, purity talks, prayer and praise times, and baptisms. A trip to a nearby village for a late-night campfire devo, a flour bomb war, and boot camp. It was a fun time...but we were all tired and happy to come back home.

While Cheryl, Aimee, and the kids took a few days to rest, recover, and catch up on our list of "to do's", Jeff, Andrew and the Faith Quest Team hardly took time to sit down. They spent time organizing and putting away the camping gear, traveling to 2 different villages over the course of two days, planning for and preaching in Fort Portal, going door to door praying over people, showing the Jesus film and helping out on Sunday mornings at church services.

They completed the Faith Quest Teams' visit with a trip to Queen Elizabeth Game Park at Mweya Safari Lodge.

When they returned, the plan was for Anaiah & Aimee Jo to hop in the car with them and head to Kampala, but due to a fuel shortage (because of the Kenya riots)the Team got in a taxi and made the trip to Kampala without any of us.

Jeff & Andrew both passed out after they left and are enjoying some down time after the busyness of the last 3 weeks, as I'm sure the Team will do upon arriving in America.

The Faith Quest Team did a GREAT job...they worked hard and wore themselves out. All kept positive attitudes, even though some were battling sickness. We appreciate all of the effort that was put into Faith Quest Uganda...the work did not go un-noticed. On top of all that, they were a huge encouragement to us and we miss them dearly.

Now we can focus on settling in... that means finding a home and a safe & reliable vehicle for our family. Please keep us in your prayers as we search for our home and continue to raise money for a vehicle.

We also ask for prayers concerning the arrival of the container. For the past four months, Jeff & Cheryl have heard, "It will be ready sometime this week." And here we are in January; the container still sitting in Kampala.
We love you, miss you, and are thankful for your prayers on our behalf. We'll be in touch.

My dear friends...
It's great to read your report. The Keizer church continues to hold you up in prayer. Praise God for a successful Faithquest program. Your work and service warms my heart.
Keep us in your prayer. We have our leadership retreat this coming weekend with John York as we formulate a vision for this body serving Christ in this part of the world.
God's peace be with you... Don Boderman

Aimee, you are one hot mamma! Andrew, you eerily look a little like Jeff standing next to Derrick like that. I am glad you guys are finally going to get to start settling down. I know the container thing will work out soon (ahh the wonderful business side of Uganda). At least you will have a story to share. Love you lots, smother that baby in kisses from us!

I too am continuing to lift you daily before our amazing God in prayer.

You are all amazing. As much work as it was...it was surely in God's gracious timing for Faith Quest to arrive so soon after your arrival. Jeff and Cheryl needed the help and you were blessed with a touch of HOME.

You, your work there, and your extended family there continue to be in our hearts and prayers.

And Anaiah?? Well, she is just so precious and adorable and she continues to hold center court in the hearts of Joy and Donna and me and all grandmothers who can feel the pain of the miles in between and the joy and pride of knowing that your children are doing what they were meant to do at this time for the Lord.

Continued blessing to you,

Gloria Rucker (Nana in the north)
